Going Home!

Two weeks after Hans and I got married, my parents sold and moved out of the house I grew up in...so sad. Last night after over 15 years, I got to go back and revisit all the memories and enjoy the fun the house has to offer. Our awesome friends the Astles (Dirk and Suzette) who live across the cul de sac invited us up for our family night activity. Dirk's parents own the house and truly were the ones who extended the invitation, but I doubt it would have been extended if Dirk and Suzette weren't so incredibly fun and nice. This was the gang walking up the front steps.

Hans and I by the front door, one of the first places we kissed...now look at us 5 kids later. Yikes!
The house has an awesome swimming pool inside that the Astle's so nicely had warm for us.
Truman quickly found the stairs to the big room and decided to do the leg breaking jump into the shallow end. Luckily, no breaks.
On his way down, with stiff legs, what is he doing?!
After Mom talked to him, he decided to do the frog style.
Rock could not believe that someone actually has a pool inside their house and just kept asking when we could come back!
Now for the extended PINEGAR clan, I couldn't leave without showing you some of the changes...yes, the big room carpet is still there in all it's red plaid glory...wow! What was Mom thinking! Kidding Mom, we loved it!
The kitchen has been completely remodeled, they pushed it out into the pantry area, doesn't it look great? So much space!
Kitchen and family area.
Besides some bathrooms, they also remodeled the den and turned it into a media room with a bar/kitchen. There is a big screen that comes down from the ceiling in front of the fireplace. Brother Astle also rebuilt the whole deck and made it twice as wide along the living room and rebuilt the rest of it how it was. It is beautiful.
The Astles are fantastic, they appreciate the house for what it is and are slowly bringing it up to date. It really is nice to have people who love it as much as I do taking such good care of it! Thanks Dirk and Suzette and Brother and Sister Astle for letting us come and enjoy 1431! I'm sure I was the only one so delighted, but thank you!
That door weighs a ton...Dad does it have a steel core?

I love it . . . that was really fun to see it and share with the kids some of the memories. I showed the kids where I first met their mom and how nervous I was siting the couch with grandpa Ed interviewing me. The kitchen was a big shocker! major difference. it was a fun night for sure.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Oh, I loved that place! Even if it was only for Sunday visits and Holiday gatherings. My favorite memories are playing Ghost downstairs, swimming, playing down the hill, lying on the soft Sheepskin in Grandpa's den, dinners in the "Big Room", toast and hot cocoa.... What fun memories!

I love what they did to the kitchen and I am still trying to figure out how it fits into that area.

Awesome! It was cool for me to see that famous indoor pool, too! Not many of us get to do that with our family! Good for you!
