Hans and I love a reason to celebrate and a reason to get away! So 18 years of being together is a pretty dang good reason to celebrate!
We started off with some golf...not really my thing, but Hans is loving it and I have really cute golf shoes that I hadn't sported in a while, so off we went and I even hit PAR...on one hole! Hahaha. No really I was just thrilled to be hitting the ball!
It was a gorgeous day and Timp is always spectacular!
After golf, we grabbed lunch, a movie and headed to Park City! We drove over Guardman's Pass (a dirt road between Midway and Park City to check out one of my legs for next year's Ragnar), and headed into Deer Valley to the St. Regis. It was super fun. You valet your car at the base of Deer Valley and then you ride the Funicular up to the resort. It is a trolley like thing and gives you a great view of the mountain. We checked out the hotel, lounged by the fire in the shade and then went to dinner at the J & G Grill.
We sat outside and enjoyed the mountain. Saw a deer, a few hawks and watched the sun slowly fade. It was seriously dreamy. Now let's talk food. Seriously.
Appetizer: Mussels cooked in a dutch oven type pot in some delish broth. The mussels were great, but I could drink that broth, and about did. I dipped my bread in it to try and get as much as I could without being too embarrassing to Hans.
Salads: Avocado & shrimp salad....yummy and creamy. And a warm beet and yogurt salad. So yummy and different...a little honey drizzled on top. Delish!
Entrees: I ordered the trout...cooked in browned butter with capers and onions. Simple and amazing. Hans got the Halibut in a sweet chili sauce. Very good.
Sides: We ordered mac and cheese and asparagus as our sides, but they forgot them. It was fine by us because we were getting full and needed to save a tiny bit of room for dessert. Plus, they were paying for dessert now, so who would pass up on that?
Dessert: Warm Chocolate Cake....a molten type cake, that unfortunately was below average. But wait....the star of the night....The Salted Caramel Popcorn Ice Cream Sundae! Oh my...a little fudge in the bottom of the bowl, topped by 3 scoops of salted caramel ice cream, crispy caramel popcorn and whipped cream. HEAVEN on earth! We started googling recipes right at the table!
MY POINT in describing the food like this....if you need a nice, fun, festive place to celebrate, go to this restaurant! So fun and delish! I can't even begin to describe breakfast...the french toast...mmmm, best I've EVER had! Tried to recreate it for the kids on Sunday....Truman said I should make it like this ALWAYS!
We sat by the pool, went shopping, got massages and returned home to a not so clean house, with not so clean kids and sighed! It was ALL worth it!
Hans Love, you are my guy, I love you babe!
