This is the pre-party at Higgy's house.
All accounted for...one last minute change...
Alyson had a little bike accident and hurt her knee...too painful to run, so she asked Melody to replace her. Gratefully Mel said yes! We missed you Alyson, but grateful Mel could step in!
New runner Gina was nervous and excited...she related it to giving birth...no idea what to expect this first time around!
The night before (my b-day) we got together to decorate the van....Yes it was JUNE 16th and we are wearing puffy coats!
Our driver Lisa, blinged us out with tons of fun stuff and we got a little crazy! Artist Hans helped us with the psycho figures below! They sure made us laugh!
Melody was our first runner at the 8:30 start!
Then it was Gina, Kathy, followed by Suz. I was handing off a little water while she was chanting "I hate this...I hate this..." She is such a funny thing, because I know she LOVES it!
Laurie was next and climbed a monster dirt road canyon...7 miles up! Now it was my turn...6 miles down! I wasn't worried about this leg at all, but it turned out to be my hardest. The road was dirt and rocky, so every footstep was nervously placed and I was quite tense! But I made it through just fine, but was dang sore from the downhill by my 3rd leg!

Gretchen came in and handed off to Melody, now it was our turn again!

Here I go...a 8 mile run up a canyon in the dark! My watch stopped working, so I started zoning out to the music and focusing on the person in front of me...then I passed him, then another and another! I wasn't fast, but I felt awesome and I passed a ton of people so I was on a race high!
We got a little sleep and had to wake up at 4am for Mel to go out again! Brrrr!

I handed off to Melissa...I was so happy to be done that I wanted to hug her, but she was already off and running, so I looked like a crazy person attacking her! So funny!

Van 1 is DONE!!!! Off to eat a delish breakfast of scones and honeybutter!

What an awesome group of ladies! We do this for the fun, for each other and for our personal goals! No one expect anything from the others, but everything from herself! We all push ourselves, but have a blast doing it! The love that comes out of these experiences isn't explainable. We are bound...bound forever by our love! Thanks ladies for another great year....Season 3 is right around the corner!
PS. We placed 15th in the all women's teams (out of 90 teams or so), and 3rd in the Sub-Masters division...what? Way to go ladies!
