I rarely do a post without pictures, I'm a very visual person and don't enjoy writing. Oh well, it's 2010 and we just had family council. This needs to be recorded tonight or it may be forgotten forever!
MAGLEBY FAMILY GOALS
for 2010
Family Relationships: Have family council once a month to talk about issues that may arise. Respect other people's personal space. NO RULE NAZIS!
Spiritual Growth: Have family prayer on our knees every night, even when Dad is out of town, we will do it over skype. Try to have our home focused on Christ. Have monthly quotes that we read each morning after scriptures that will help us through each day. Further develop our own testimonies of Jesus Christ.
Our Home: When you get something out, put it away. Rotate Saturday jobs each month. Have Mom check Saturday jobs. One house maintenance project a month.
Money: Turn off lights in rooms we aren't using (check monthly statements and see if we are better than last year...do something fun with the money). Mom and Dad need to remember to pay allowances once a month at family council.
Family Vacation: Plan a fun Utah summer vacation and start saving for a big vacation...maybe Mexico!

These were all decided on by the family....I have to be honest, I wanted the home centered on Christ and the house maintenance, but really everyone decided on everything else. It may not have been unanimous, but it was majority! We also added a very big change.....
Between the hours of 6-9pm on school nights (Sunday to Thursday) there will be no cell phone use, no texting, no computers (unless needed for homework, but no blogging, no games, no facebook, etc), no T.V. unless watched by everyone (like American Idol), no ipod touches and no Wii or PS3.
So what the freak are we going to do? Stay connected as a family....or fight playing a board game like we did tonight.
Oh 2010, be good to us, we promise to try to be kinder! In every essence of the word. Being KIND encompasses it all!
So when you see me, feel free to ask me how our goals are going, I can always use a good reminder...just remember don't be a rule nazi!

I love the family council! Don't worry--We turned off our cable a couple months ago and we don't really miss it! Life goes on!
