Manti

Today is Martin Luther King Day otherwise known as Civil Rights Day. The kids had the day off school. So on my way home from the gym, thinking it could be a crazy day at home, I decided to load the kids up and go visit Grandma and Grandpa. My Mom and Dad.
They moved to Manti in October and because they are so great at coming up to visit, we haven't been down to see them yet. My Mom and Dad are serving as the Manti Temple presidents and they moved to Manti to start their service November 1, 2009. It is a 3 year calling. Luckily, they are keeping their place in Orem and get to come visit often. It's only a 90 minute drive and I have a feeling we will be making it more often! They have a nice house very close to the temple and right across from the high school. They get taken care of very well, someone was there to shovel the walk and driveway while I was there....Dad thinks it's great and honestly, it makes Mom a little nervous. They love serving in the temple and they think the people they serve with are great! The hours are long and exhausting, but inspiring and wonderful!

I can't wait to make a day of it without kids and go to the temple, do a session and then get the special "Daddy" tour! The Manti temple is special to the Maglebys as well because, Hans O. Magleby (whom my Hans was named after) was one of the carpenters that worked on the famous spiral staircase! So it will be exciting to see the inside of this beautiful pioneer temple! Another exciting thought is, Chloe will be 12 this summer and will be old enough to do baptisms. She is so excited. I think we will need to make a girls trip out of it. I know Manti isn't an exciting destination, but we will make it a blast and with Grandma and Grandpa Pinegar, life is always fun!

Today while we were there, we had sandwiches that we picked up on our way down, did a little research on the computer, saw all the bedrooms (Josie already scoped out the bed she is sleeping in next time), the kids watched some tv while we chatted. Nothing amazing (well, I am still thinking about Mom's brownies!), but my kids all had a great time and when we were pulling out of their driveway Truman said, "They are so fun!" That's what I want, I want them to remember them how I do! Full of life, spirit and FUN!
Steve(2), Karie(1), Kristi(4), Tricia (8), Traci(7), Kelly (3), Brett (5)
Always missing Cory (6) and we will be with him again soon!
Thanks Mom and Dad for your amazing examples of service, love and dedication, not only to this family, but to our Father in Heaven. I love you so much, and I LOVE THIS FAMILY!!!

Do you have any idea how lucky you are to have them for parents??????? I want the Daddy tour! Forget that, i'd just go for an hour or two of asking questions that are Temple related... And on that note, Manti is not exciting? We say that about the NZ temple (built by members and i kid you not, the sealing room is in the basement and you walk thru the chapel to get to the changing room.... weird) so feel free to bring Chloe down here when she turns 12! We can make a trip of it cos Meg turns 12 in June too. Love to everyone, especially the amazing parents xxx

Traci,
I ran into your blog thru Sara Stakers. Your family is darling. I will always remember your dad as a HUGE SPIRITUAL GIANT with a great sense of humor.
Matt and I were married/sealed in the Manti temple and because our room was preoccupied one of the temple workers, took up to the Celestial room through the back elevator. While in there she shared stories with us about happenings in the temple. It was marvelous!
